Millennium Christmas

  by Maurice R. Franks

In Pisces, Jove with Saturn bright
Sets in the west at dawn's first light --
With horoscopic meaning clear:
The birth of Israel's king draws near.

Two thousand years have come and gone,
’T is wonder man survived so long.
The King's wise Word man still ignores,
With hate and crime and drugs and wars.

On chips of sand our lives depend,
Flawed, without the means to mend.
A species smug, in arrogance,
Too dumb to grasp our ignorance.

Sound values gone, good morals spent,
One ponders where a culture went.
The climate's changed, we've no clue why;
Soon power's out, next bullets fly.

To sky at night our souls stand bared;
The Void above knows how we've fared.
But soon all evil forms shall fall!
An end is near; He'll judge us all.
