Dear Editor:
Each day the news brings messages of more delays at the United Nations, more concessions to France and Russia, more emaciating the already-feeble palliative of cosmetic but ineffective "inspections," more humiliation for the United States and more images of our humiliation being orchestrated by our own national leaders.
As a lawyer, I must ask where on Earth the Bush administration and the congressional Democrats get the notion that we even need to consult the United Nations before taking action. Their kind attention is called to Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations. When we joined the United Nations, we expressly reserved the right to act unilaterally in self-defense.
We are not in a court of law, and we don't need legally admissible evidence of Saddam Hussein's complicity. Anyone who believes Saddam Hussein may not be connected to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks probably also believes in the tooth fairy and certainly is too gullible to serve the American people.
Those who still dither in the wake of the murder of 3,000 innocent civilians at the World Trade Center need to resign from office before the voters do the job for them.
Actions speak louder than words. It's time for some action. We the people are watching.
